]]>When it comes to holiday planning, a checklist is your best friend. Having a list keeps you on track and helps prevent last-minute chaos. Start with a Thanksgiving Planning Checklist from our Etsy store, which includes sections for meal prep, shopping lists, and more—all in one easy-to-use printable. If you prefer digital tools, Trello or Todoist are great apps that let you create Thanksgiving-specific task lists, assign due dates, and check off items as you go.
Take your teen shopping with you and let them take charge of the checklist! As your “checklist manager,” they can help track each item and make sure nothing’s forgotten. This one-on-one time is a fantastic way to connect and share a little fun amidst the holiday bustle. Plus, they’ll feel empowered being part of the planning, and you’ll both create special memories working together to get everything ready for Thanksgiving!
Meal planning is one of the biggest parts of Thanksgiving, but you don’t have to do it alone. Apps like Plan to Eat or Paprika are perfect for organizing recipes, creating shopping lists, and arranging dishes for the big day. You can even use them to share tasks with other family members, like teens who want to try their hand at cooking. For those who love printables, check out our Thanksgiving Meal Planner on Etsy. It’s designed to help you keep everything organized, from your shopping list to your dish timeline.
Invite your teen to add a favorite dish to the Thanksgiving menu, whether it’s a classic family side or a new dessert they’re excited to try. Let them choose, plan, and even help prepare the dish—it’s a fantastic way to give them a sense of ownership in the meal planning. Together, you can look up recipes, make a fun shopping trip to gather ingredients, and enjoy a little one-on-one time in the kitchen as they bring their creation to life.
Thanksgiving is a team effort, so don’t be afraid to delegate! A Thanksgiving To-Do List can keep everyone in the family accountable. Break it down into tasks like “set the table,” “arrange the seating,” and “handle post-dinner cleanup.” Consider using a shared app like Google Keep or the Reminders app on your phone, so everyone can mark their tasks as completed. For an easy and FREE printable option from our Etsy store you can click HERE!
Thanksgiving shouldn’t just be about work. Schedule some downtime and fun activities to create a relaxed, festive vibe. After the meal, consider a family game, a Thanksgiving-themed trivia session, or a post-dinner walk. These small traditions can become memorable parts of the holiday. Ask your teens to organize a Thanksgiving playlist or choose a movie for a post-dinner watch. This small role lets them bring their own creativity to the celebration, giving them something to look forward to during the day.
Decorating for Thanksgiving doesn’t need to be complicated! Mix some DIY décor with easy printables for a festive atmosphere without the hassle. Your teens can help with the decorations! They can cut out printables, create place settings, or arrange table décor, adding their own touch to the holiday’s visual theme.
Finally, remember that flexibility is key to a successful holiday. Thanksgiving is a holiday meant for gratitude and family time, so don’t worry if everything doesn’t go exactly as planned. By embracing these stress-free Thanksgiving planning tips, you’ll enjoy the day more and create an atmosphere where everyone can relax.
Final Tip: Take a Moment to Breathe and Be Grateful. Thanksgiving is about more than just food and planning. Remember to take a step back, breathe, and enjoy the little moments. With a bit of help from your family and a few planning tools, you can make this Thanksgiving one to remember—for all the right reasons

The post 7 Must-Have Essentials for Moms with Soon-to-Be Teenagers appeared first on By Wess.
]]>One of the biggest changes we’ve seen during this phase is her skin. Hormonal changes have led to breakouts, so a daily skincare routine is now a must-have essential for my soon-to-be teenager. In the morning, she uses a moisturizer with SPF for hydration and protection. At night, her routine includes washing her face, she is using Cetaphil Oil Free Gentle Foaming Cleanser, it has no fragrance to avoid any skin irritation. She is applying Differin for acne treatment, recommended by her pediatrician and finishing with a night moisturizer. For particularly stubborn spots, she is using acne patches, which are absolute lifesavers. She has been trying many brands and her favorite is PanOxyl.
Gone are the days when I could pick out her clothes without question. Now, we shop together and I love watching her develop her own style. Recently, we’ve focused on adding versatile staples to her wardrobe that can be dressed up or down, like well-fitted jeans, casual tops, and cozy sweatshirts. These outfits are perfect for school days, weekends with friends, or even just hanging out at home. Her favorite shops include American Eagle for tops and H&M for jeans. She’s also been loving Converse sneakers and likes to change things up between sporty brands like Nike or going casual with Crocs. And while I cover most of the essentials, for those more expensive outfits, we’ve agreed that she contributes some of her own money—an important lesson in budgeting that I think will serve her well.
Accessories are where my daughter loves to experiment. From hair clips to jewelry, these little touches are must-have essential for a soon-to-be teenager looking to express her style. She frequently orders accessories from Temu, a budget-friendly option for teens who love variety without the high-end price tag. It’s been fun watching her find the perfect pieces to complete her look.
The teenage years mean more responsibility. School, extracurriculars, and a growing social life can easily become overwhelming. My daughter has minimal ADHD, and one of the strategies her cognitive behavioral therapist suggested was adopting a daily routine. She now uses weekly routine pages to structure her days, which has been incredibly helpful in keeping her on track.
A cute planner or notebook is always on her desk, which helps her stay focused (and it makes me happy too, as it means fewer forgotten chores!). Whether it’s jotting down homework assignments or her plans for the weekend, having a system for staying organized is crucial.
In addition to staying organized, my daughter’s journal has become a lifeline for self-expression. Every day, she writes in her gratitude journal, reflecting on her thoughts and feelings. It’s a key part of her daily routine, and I’ve noticed how it helps her process emotions in a healthy way.
I’m proud of how she’s embraced journaling. It’s become a wonderful way for her to unwind, express herself, and connect with her inner thoughts. This simple habit has given her a healthy outlet to explore and understand her emotions as she navigates this transitional stage.
Let’s face it: in today’s world, phones are practically an extension of our kids. Thankfully, her school has a policy against phone use during school hours, which gives me some peace of mind. Outside of school, though, her phone is a big part of her life, whether she’s chatting with friends or listening to music.
She also loves her Apple Watch and AirPods. One fun thing I’ve noticed is that she enjoys changing her watch straps and AirPod cases every couple of months—something I’m happy to indulge since it’s an inexpensive way for her to update her look. Like with her clothing, when it comes to pricier items, she often saves up and buys her own accessories, teaching her the value of money.
At this age, personal care has become a huge focus for my daughter, and she’s very particular about what she uses. Her favorite body care brand is Sol de Janeiro (which smells amazing!), and she’s obsessed with their perfume—item she buys with her own money. When it comes to essentials like deodorant, pimple patches, etc. I make sure our household is always stocked. During her monthly cycle, she prefers period underwear over pads, which has helped her feel more comfortable and confident. Giving her the autonomy to choose what works best for her body has been important as she navigates these changes.
One area where we’ve agreed to disagree is makeup. While I wasn’t initially thrilled about her using mascara and blush, I’ve chosen to pick my battles, and this isn’t one of them. She enjoys wearing it, and I can see how it boosts her confidence. Plus, since she buys her makeup with her own money, I feel comfortable letting her have some fun with it, all while ensuring she maintains a balanced routine.
Navigating the teen years is an adventure of growth and change. With the right tools and support, we’re both adjusting to this transition. These seven must-have essentials have boosted her confidence, kept her organized, and helped her express her unique personality as she enters her teenage years.
As a mom, it’s a privilege to witness her blossoming into her own person, and while there are certainly challenges, it’s rewarding to see her thrive. I hope these Must-Have Essentials offer a helpful guide to other parents embarking on this same journey. Here’s to celebrating our teens’ individuality and supporting them as they navigate the path to adulthood with grace and confidence.

]]>Halloween is the perfect time for pre-teens and teens to dress up, gather candy, and have a spooky good time. To make sure they have the best night ever, there are a few must-haves for a successful trick-or-treat night that can take the experience from fun to unforgettable. From upgrading their trick-or-treat bags to enjoying festive drinks, here’s what your kids need to make this Halloween spooktacular!
One of the key must-haves for a successful trick-or-treat night is upgrading those old-fashioned, uncomfortable candy buckets. Pre-teens and teens today want something cooler and more practical. Enter Halloween-themed tote bags! These bags are not only more comfortable to carry, but they also hold way more candy—meaning no need to stop mid-route to dump out the loot. Plus, with fun and spooky designs, the tote bags help make trick-or-treating stylish, giving teens that extra touch of personality they love.
No more dealing with hard plastic buckets that cut into hands or knock around on every step. Our Halloween tote bags are perfect for long treks around the neighborhood, whether you’re trick-or-treating or just carrying snacks for the group. It’s time to ditch the outdated baskets and upgrade the look and comfort for a more seamless night of collecting goodies.
Teens love personalizing their Halloween look. Instead of buying pre-made costumes, encourage them to mix-and-match pieces from their own wardrobe. Oversized hoodies, ripped jeans, and face paint can create a whole new character! Add some DIY elements to their look by suggesting they decorate their tote bag to match their costume theme.
Encouraging creativity makes Halloween fun while also giving them ownership over their style. Plus, it’s a great way to engage them in the lead-up to the event. DIY costumes are also perfect for creating unique and memorable Instagram posts, which teens will love!
Halloween can be an exciting but long night for both kids and parents. Another essential for a successful trick-or-treat night is staying hydrated while on the move! Whether your teens want a fun, non-alcoholic apple cider or you’re looking for a little something extra for the grown-ups, can-shaped glasses are the way to go. These glasses come in spooky designs that fit perfectly into the Halloween vibe, making them fun for everyone.
Parents can enjoy their cider with a little twist of alcohol, while the teens can sip on cider, fruit punch, or any festive drink you prepare. These glasses are portable and perfect for Halloween parties or trick-or-treat pit stops.
While Halloween is a night filled with fun, it’s important to remember safety, especially for pre-teens and teens. Equip your trick-or-treaters with small flashlights, reflective clothing, or glow sticks to keep them visible during the night. This way, they’ll stand out in the dark, ensuring their safety while still looking cool. Staying in groups is also a must, especially when moving through busy neighborhoods. With the right gear and safety reminders, you can ensure they’ll have a successful and safe trick-or-treat night.
Don’t forget that Halloween can be just as fun for parents as it is for the kids. Join in on the fun by dressing up or walking with them around the neighborhood. You can carry your favorite drinks in those trendy can-shaped glasses while the kids collect candy. Having parents involved always adds an extra layer of fun, turning the night into a memorable family tradition.
With these must-haves for a successful trick-or-treat night, you can ensure that your pre-teens and teens have a fun, comfortable, and safe experience. Upgrade their bags, keep them hydrated, and most importantly, make sure they’re visible during the evening. Halloween is a time for making memories, and with these essentials, you’re setting them up for an unforgettable night!
